check meowt!

yesterday i made this super fun (and funny!) card for the lawnscaping challenge! the challenge is all about what inspires you! pretty much there's not someone in this crafty world who DOESN'T inspire me! each and every comment i leave for people is from my heart, and honestly, that's why i craft so much - because i'm always so blown away from people and their talents! so how could i choose one card/technique? i couldn't and it stumped me! ha ha!!

but then i just happened to remember seeing this cute little image on pinterest:

it's so cute right?! it always makes me smile! so i'm using that as my inspiration! :) ha ha!

i used 5 lawn fawn stamp sets - fanciful frames, critters on the savanna, critters in the burbs, harold's abc's and a birdie told me! whew! :) everything was paper pieced, and the two cute kitties were popped up for dimension! i used some glittery silver paper to make it look more like a  mirror.

then to add just a bit more color, i used some awwwwwesome rainbow colored washi from glitz! love it! oh, and i thought it would be totally cheeky and fun to use that feather paper since they're cats! lol! :) oh, and just a touch of glossy accents for their little noses finished it off! :)

so that's it! just a fun little card to make you laugh!
enjoy!

on a roll

here's a CAS card i created for the latest re-be inspired challenge at the alley way stamps! the colors are so fun!

i used two TAWS stamp sets - sushi bar and sittin' pretty (but barely!)! :) i only used part of a sentiment from sittin' pretty to create my sentiment!

i paper pieced the sushi roll, and i had to add a smiley face. i couldn't resist! the sushi roll is popped for dimension, and i added a shadow to emphasize that. once that was done, all i had to do was add the polaroid die cut and fashion the chopsitcks with a few askew, rounded corners. and that's it!

it's very simple, but totally fun! i can't wait to give it to someone! ha ha!
my husband gave the sentiment an eye roll, but i love it! ha!! he must not be as pun-tastic as i am! :)
enjoy!

you're a knockout!

today i have a birthday card to share! i created it for the current fusion card challenge! obviously i used the colors from lesley's challenge and i was inspired by the sketch from jackie's challenge!

i used three paper smooches stamp sets - alphadot, sentiment sampler and hope.

i colored the boxing gloves with my inktense pencils and then used my heidi swapp (tinsel) color shine to add color to the star wood veeners! i sort of wanted the stars to emphasize the 'knockout' part of the card! :)

the top border i created with washi strips and i used a brad and twine to 'hang' the boxing gloves! :) the gloves are also popped up for a little dimension.
i think this card is going to be perfect for my bff who's totally loving working out all the time right now! :)

so that's it!
enjoy! (and look! no sequins this time!) ha ha!

mother's day

i feel like flowers are to mother's day cards, like mustaches are to masculine cards. lol! i kept with that feeling with the card i created for the current 10 minute craft dash! the colors are absolutely perfect for flowers and mother's day cards. win-win!

so again, i came critically close to the time limit! and it was because i used some of my inktense pencils to watercolor in the images! first i stamped them and cit them out. then i watercolored the flower with pink and purple! i imagined a must more blended look when in my head. but time (and skill!) got away from me so it is what is! the leaves were colored with some green pencils.

the flower stamp is my cute stamps (ella's flowers) and the sentiment is lawn fawn's 'happy everything!'

i also blended the pink to the purple for the sentiment banner. stamped the sentiment on it, and then outlined the rectangle with a black marker. the awesome chevron/herringbone background is amy tan paper, and i LOOOOOVE the geometric background with large bold florals! this card here completely 100% inspired my card! i just LOVE it!

so that's it!
enjoy!

how you doin?

today i have a card to share for two aweeeesome challeneges! the play date cafe, with what is arguably my favorite color combo EVER, and CAS(e) this sketch - with an awesome sketch! i just love it!

the sketch is super fun! and as i was creating this card, it hit me that it is very similar to another card i made a little bit ago, here. can you tell what i'm all about right now? geometric shapes, sequins and speech bubbles. you got me. sigh. oh well, i do love this card, so i wanted to share! :)

i used three mama elephant stamp sets - hello, trifecta, and good times!
the triangles were stamped in hero arts midtone wet cement. and i used my picked raspberry for the speech bubble and potty people - which are also popped up.

of course, like all addictions, it's hard for me to move on from a card unless i add some sequins (my current addiction). these are from neat and tangled! there is such a fun variety there!

so that's it! i'm hoping this card makes the recipient smile - what's not to love? there's hot pink here! lol!
enjoy!

burning brightly

i have a quick post to share with a card i made for the current fusion card challenge! it's my first time playing along, and i think i'm already in love! for this card i chose to go with jackie's challenge.

and here's my card:

i used the super adorable lighter than air stamp set from the alley way stamps. LOVE that set! :) i have been eyeing that lightbulb image forever and i'm happy happy happy thati finally inked it up! :)
i layered some bright yellow websters pages washi and a thin black strip of washi to go with the black sentiment and card base.

then i splattered it all with the awesome 'shine' mist from mr huey's! i mean, light bulbs have to shine, right? ha ha! oh, and it was love at first sine too, that spray is AWESOME! i think i'm in love! :) i'll definitely be playing with it some more!
so that's it!
enjoy!

birds of a feather

the latest challenge over at paper smooches sparks is all about cool shades, and i couldn't love the color combinations more!! LOOOOOOOOVE!!

i was instantly inspired by the colors! i attempted to create a subtle ombre  affect - here's what i mean:

i used my brand new inktense watercolor pencils to color the bottoms of the birds and then my grey copic marker to color the heads, then i paper pieced them together! :) i still have a LOT to learn using those pencils! (and i think the watercolor paper i bought is whack! ...either that or it's user error! lol!)

i used three paper smooches stamp sets: get outta town (sentiment), my peeps (the birds) and metropolis (the clouds). each of the birds are popped up, and the clouds are not - but can i talk about the clouds for a minute? i think they're SO adorable! and i really think they make the card!! lol! :)

i placed the birds in a 'flying v' formation because they're on the way to their happy place of course! :) the sentiment was heat embossed in white to finish it all off!

so that's that! i think it's super happy and bright! and i'm hoping it brings some cheer to some people who need a smile (even it lasts only a minute!).
enjoy!

under the sea

ok guys, LAST time, i swear! ...i made another card for the mama elephant challenge (i'm better you underestimated my level of excitement when they announced this sketch, huh?) ha ha!

i swear, promise, i'll will try to make this my last card for that challenge! it's definitely my favorite! i LOVE it!!
my best friend's youngest daughter is turning 2 in a few weeks and she loves all things 'the little mermaid'. eeeek! ME TOO!!! it's been my favorite since i was little and wore out the VHS and cassette tape making my family members watch me re-enact, sing and dance to it! lol! :) here birthday party is of course, therefore, all little mermaid, so i HAD to join in (see obsession detailed above). problem is, i don't have any mermaid stamps, paper, stickers, anything!

so i created a mermaid!

i used two different stamps form the 'cosmic stars' stamp set from mama elephant (the little virgo and the pisces fish).a little bit of water coloring with some distress inks, a little bit of masking (mermaid tale), and little bit of copic coloring (skin). i paper pieced it all together and then added a little pearl to the girl's hand (instead of a star), since they were under the sea! :)

i used some tiny type stickers from cosmo cricket for the sentiment. oh, and the washi is actually layered - it's one yellow/white chevron, and over top of it is that TO DIE FOR rainbow chevron that i love! i like that you can see through it and it adds more patterns! weird, and kind of fun, right?

the 'water' was created with some awesoooooooome heidi swapp teal color shine! love it!
and of course, my latest necessity - sequins with some pearls inside. sigh. :)
enjoy!

stay on target

alright, i couldn't resist trying out one more card for the mama elephant sketch challenge

this time i used the on target stamp set, and i'm kind of digging it! :)

i fussy cut out the large target and then added the sentiment and arrow. the heart was also stamped and fussy cut and then i popped it up for dimension.

the chevron arrows at the top were colored with the same 'festive berries' distress ink pad (in my humble opinion, it's the BEST red ever!! and i am usually super picky with my reds! i think this one is just SO bright, and vibrant and RED!) ha ha!

the color especially shines when you add glossy accents! which i did to the wood veneer chevrons and the heart. as if they weren't popping enough, right? :)

so that's it!
enjoy!

being inspired

this morning i'm sharing a card i made for the current re-be inspired challenge over at the alley way stamps! :)

i just love the colors - pink, yellow, grey and polka dots! yes! :)
i used the hey cupcake stamp set from TAWS, to make this sugary sweet thank you card! :)

it's hard to capture on camera, but the cupcake 'frosting, is actually a little bit of  shaker! i stamped the frosting on to the pink paper, which i glittered, and then put a layer of clear acetate over top of that (then i added the white sparkly confetti polka dots!). then i stamped the cupcake icing onto the yellow background and cut it out, so the shaker would be under the yellow background! :)

i stamped the sentiment onto a banner that i had lying on my desk from another card, for which it didn't make the cut!). i punched a small hole into the banner and attached it to the card with some (slate) grey twine from the twinery! :) lastly, i sprinkled a little pearls onto the card and vwa-la!

*this picture just shows the acetate-ness of the card, that's why it's so dark and unappealing :)

i was totally going for a new spin on the polka dots with the shaker element! :)
enjoy!

dream weaver

i know it's last minute, and i know the level of other cards already submitted, but i just had to share the card i made for the (soon to end) lawnscaping challenge - embossing! :) (i haven't missed one of those challenges yet! ha ha!)

so here's my card, and please note - i laughed the whole time i made it! :)

i used lawn fawn's critters on the savanna, critters ever after, and a birdie told me stamp sets! :) i used my distress inks to watercolor the rhino and unicorn. then i added glossy accents to the horn on the rhino and a shiny glitter pen on the horn of the unicorn! :)

the thought bubble and one of the layers of grass were popped up for dimension - and the patterned paper i used is from lawn fawn too! daphne's closet, to be exact. and oh yeah, the embossing - the white is a panel of dry embossed clouds!

i was totally all about this card...until i stamped the sentiment and the stars. as soon i stamped the first star i instantly regretted it...but what could i do?! lol! i added more, naturally, and my love for the card diminished with each star, but that's ok - i still think it's funny! and if you chuckle, it's all worth it! :)

enjoy! :)

you're swell

i LOVE mama elephant stamps - and i LOVE when they have a challenge up!! :) here's the sketch this month:

i was in FL last week visiting my parents and so i was away from my supplies and didn't craft one single bit the whole time!! 7 days!!! it was awful! lol! :)
but that's ok! i made up for it yesterday! :)

here's the card i created for the challenge:

i used two ME stamp sets: midnight letters and cosmic stars! :)
i fussy cut out the fish and popped them up, then added a little glitter to their fins! :)
the side has some layered washi all dressed up with sequin bubbles! :) yahoo! i love the shine of the sequins and glitter! ha ha!

i used a black base for my card - that is totally out of my norm. i'm usually white cardstock all the way (with a little kraft splattered in here and there, of course!). so i thought it would totally rock the black background since the sentiment is so black and so bold! :) ha ha!

not bad for my first card back in the saddle! ha ha! :)
enjoy!
